NORTON HEART & VASCULAR INSTITUTE is seeking an adult cardiothoracic surgeon with experience in mechanical circulatory support. The ideal candidate will join Norton Cardiothoracic Surgery, an established practice that provides comprehensive cardiovascular and thoracic surgical services at Norton Audubon Hospital and Norton Hospital. Providers with this practice complete an average of 1,100 surgical procedures annually, including nearly 200 transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures. A strong referral pattern exists within Norton Heart & Vascular Institute, which maintains 57% of the cardiovascular market share in our area, more than any other health care system. In collaboration with the Norton Heart & Vascular Institute Advanced Heart Failure & Recovery Program, members of this team provide surgical services for an established Mechanical Circulatory Support Program. This multidisciplinary program has been designated as an accredited ventricular assist device (VAD) program by DNV Healthcare and the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. In addition, Norton Heart & Vascular Institute is a member of the UK Gill Heart & Vascular Institute Affiliate Network, working collaboratively to provide access to heart transplantation services through the established transplant program at UK HealthCare in Lexington, Kentucky. ABOUT THE POSITION Join an adult-service practice currently consisting of three cardiac surgeons, two general thoracic surgeons, eight advanced practice providers and several support staff. Collaborate with a VAD team consisting of three advanced heart failure cardiologists; three advanced practice providers who are VAD trained; two VAD coordinators; inpatient and outpatient perfusionists; and dedicated support resources, including a financial coordinator, licensed clinical social worker, palliative care specialist, physical therapist, dietitian and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) coordinator.
