The Texas A&M College of Medicine seeks to fill a position for the Head of the Department of Molecular and Cellular Medicine (MCM) with an appointment as a tenured Professor of the College of Medicine. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Medicine, the Department Head is a member of the senior leadership team of the College working collaboratively with the central administration, fellow department heads, center and institute directors, and faculty members to support and advance the strategic goals of the University, College and Department. The College of Medicine seeks applications from distinguished academicians with proven scientific, strategic and collaborative leadership skills. The successful candidate should be a leader committed to the development of the Department as a leading research unit of the College of Medicine with a focus on extramural grant funding and academic excellence in support of the research and educational missions of the institution. The College welcomes applications from outstanding scientists with international reputation in the fields of or related to biochemistry, genetics, cellular and molecular biology, data science and translational biomedical research. The MCM Department, which includes the Institute of Regenerative Medicine, is located on the main Health Science Center campus in Bryan/College Station. Research in the MCM Department spans a wide range of both basic and translational biomedical research, from basic studies on the structure and function of biomolecules to genetics and genomics and stem cell therapeutics. Emphasis is placed on understanding normal and abnormal biological functions at the molecular and cellular levels but also includes translational studies on therapeutics and regenerative medicine.
