MDLC PUBLIC HEALTH ADVOCATE FULL-TIME TEMPORARY The Minnesota Disability Law Center (MDLC), a unit of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (Legal Aid), is seeking a full-time Public Health Advocate in the Minneapolis, Duluth, Mankato, or Fertile office. The MDLC serves as the protection and advocacy system for people with disabilities in Minnesota, and the Advocate will work with people who have disabilities to ensure access to disability services and rights. Some of the duties of the Advocate may include the responsibility for case management and client communications, coordinating with county and community organizations on disability issues for the client and attending hearings if needed. Currently, our staff are working remotely until further notice. In the future, activities may be done in person, with flexibility for work at home on a part-time basis. RESPONSIBILITIES : Apply the principles of Legal Aids Racial Justice Values Statement in all interactions Identify and participate in events sponsored by or located in racial and ethnic communities related to accessing public health care options and the COVID-19 vaccine and seek/coordinate with vaccine and public health providers for these events Identify school district events/audiences to provide information about accessing public health care options and the COVID-19 vaccine Develop targeted informational, self-advocacy, and social media materials related to accessing public health care options, accessing the COVID-19 vaccine, and expanding the public health workforce for people with disabilities Plan, organize, and participate in meetings with local public health officials and other entities, collecting and analyzing data on COVID-19 vacc
