Library Director

Library Director The City of Gering is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Library Director for the Gering Public Library. This position is a highly responsible, Department Head level position involved in the total operation of the Library. The successful candidate will manage and supervise library operations with available resources; plan and organize workloads and staff assignments; train, motivate and evaluate assigned staff; review progress and direct changes as needed. The Director provides leadership and direction in the development of short and long-range library plans; gathers, interprets, and prepares data for studies, reports and recommendations; coordinates department activities with other departments and agencies as needed and works under the broad policy guidance of the Library Board of Trustees in addition to policies set by the City Council. Minimum qualifications: Graduation from a college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Library Science, Liberal Arts, Public Administration, Management or a closely related field, and five years of experience in library operations and management, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
