Lead Mechanic

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Lead Mechanic at the Paul S. Sarbanes Ecosystem Restoration Project on Poplar Island near Tilghman, MD. Responsibilities include installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment, including heavy equipment, pumps, and vehicles, as needed. May require management of supervisory and non-supervisory Mechanic positions. May require the ability to work over-time, nights, weekends, and during adverse weather conditions. All personnel at this facility travel to the workplace daily via crew boat. Minimum Requirements: Required qualifications include: graduation from a standard high school or possession of GED equivalency certificate and seven years experience performing installation, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment. Formal schooling from an accredited vocational school with a major in a related field may be substituted for experience. Education experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to three years of the required experience. Must have a valid driver's license with less than 5 points, the ability to lift 50lbs, and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Preferred Qualifications include: Preferred candidate will have extensive maintenance experience with pontoon equipment, large pumps, bull dozers, excavators, articulated dump trucks, water trucks, fuel trucks, and light trucks. This candidate will also have knowledge of computers and maintenance tracking software. Estimated Pay Range: $54,000 - $58,000 MES believes our employees are our greatest asset.
