Job Goal: The individual in this position is responsible for assisting the director in providing leadership in the continuing development of effective and efficient food service programs. Qualifications : The individual in this position should have the following credentials: Bachelor's degree in Food and Nutrition or related field and a minimum of 10 years of experience in food service management and administration, or an Associate's degree in Food and Nutrition plus a minimum of 15 years of experience in food service management and administration. Thorough knowledge of requirements of Child Nutrition Programs. Thorough knowledge of management principles. Ability to organize time, establish work priorities and provide leadership in the development of these skills in others Ability to perform duties with limited supervision. NRA Certified ServSafe Instructor, or NEHA Certified Professional-Food Safety (CP-FS), or NEHA Registered Environmental Health Specialist/Registered Sanitarian (REHS/RS) Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to develop and maintain harmonious and productive working relationships. Performance Responsibilities: Assist the director in the oversight of federally funded school nutrition programs including National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Seamless Summer Program, After School Snack, and Fresh Fruit & Vegetable programs. Visit schools to evaluate food service programs and ensure that all schools remain in compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines, provide leadership as necessary. Assist the director in evaluating current programs for effectiveness and provide leadership in development of new programs to ensure financial stability. Serve as the lead for the department for all local, State Department, and USDA audits. Provide support and guidance to District Area Managers. Research grant opportunities compatible with Food and Nutrition Services' mission, values and programs in support of the departments strategic and program goals, and coordinate the grant fulfillment processes. Assist the director in setting standards of service to ensure efficient and sanitary practices in food preparation and meal service.
