Chief of PoliceBorough of West Homestead,Allegheny County, PA.Under the authority delegated by the Council and Borough Manager, the Chief of Police shall have the responsibility for the administration and operation of the West Homestead Police Department (WHPD). The Chief will plan and direct the internal and external activities of the WHPD in the enforcement of laws, regulations, and Borough Ordinances. The Chief will establish realistic departmental goals and objectives, provide leadership, direction, positive motivation, respond to all inquiries, complaints, and grievances in a timely and professional manner.The Chief will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective, productive working relationships with appointed and elected officials, the Borough Manager, Staff, neighboring Police Departments, Government Agencies, Private Organizations, Media, Borough Residents, Business Community, and other law enforcement agencies.Position Requirements:- BA/BS in Political Science or Criminal Justice preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training may also be considered- Ten (10) years of extensive, diversified, successful, responsible Police Officer experience- Valid PA Municipal Police Officer Act 120 Training and Certification- Valid PA Driver License- Ability to operate standard office and Police Department equipment, PC literate included but not limited to MS Office Suite- Ability to read, comprehend and interpret law enforcement and criminal activity materials, systems, language, and instructions- Knowledge of applicable police department rules and regulations, state, and local statutes- Developed awareness of the U.S. Constitution, government, state and local criminal code, judicial procedures and process, enforcement techniques, principals, equipment, and procedures- Shall possess NO criminal record or disciplinary action that is unworthy of being an applicant forposition- Knowledge of the physical and social characteristics of criminal law with reference to apprehension; arrests; admissibility of evidence; first aid principles, skills, and application- Successful candidate must pass a thorough physical to include post offer pre-employment screening, psychological examination, drug screening, background checksBenefits & Salary:The s
