Police Chief Village of Minong Police Department – Minong, WI Reason for Announcement: Fill Full-time Vacancy The Village of Minong has a population of 547 people and maintains law enforcement coverage for only the Village of Minong with some mutual aid when called. Responsibilities: The Village has a department with a full-time Chief of Police and one full-time Police Officer. The Chief is under the immediate supervision by the Village President, and subject to general direction from the President, and Village Board. This is an administrative and working position. Candidates should have the ability to coordinate, supervise, evaluate, and budget police department operations. Including: • Preparing and maintaining records and reports • Managing subordinates and investigations • Exercising judgement on day-to-day operations • Developing polices and regulations • Preparing budget for police department functions • Developing and managing crime prevention programs in the Village • Developing and maintaining the department's safety program • Working 40 hours per week and varying hours as needed • Occasional evening meetings required Qualifications Required : The Chief must have a high school diploma and a minimum of an associate degree in police science or related field with 60 credits in Criminal Justice. 5-10-years' experience working in law enforcement; 3 years of leadership experience preferred; Solid knowledge of police methods and practices; Grant writing experience; Public speaking abilities; Analytical thinker; Ability to multi-task; Work well independently and as a collaborative leader; and deal with public effectively. U.S. Citizen, Driver License, good driving record, good physical condition, the ability to possess a firearm, no felony convictions, no domestic abuse convictions, vision correctable to 20/20, good verbal and written communication skills, react quickly and effectively to stressful situations, and able to work occasional evenings, weekends and holidays.
