Basic Function : Under the direction of the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, provides legal advice, guidance, and representation to the Texas Hospital Association (THA) and its related entities with respect to business, transactional, governance, legislative, regulatory, and compliance matters. Relevant areas of law include healthcare; information technology; HIPAA; contracts; federal and state lobbying; insurance regulation; non-profit corporate organization and governance. Also works closely with THA's advocacy/government relations team on health care policy issues, including direct legislative and regulatory agency advocacy. Qualifications : Law school graduate from an accredited law school. Must be a member in good standing of the Texas bar. Minimum of 2 to 5 years legal experience, preferably advising health care providers or serving in an in-house setting. Experience with managed care and insurance preferred. Excellent speaking and writing skills, including the ability to clearly describe complex issues; as well as develop and deliver presentations, including testimony to regulatory and legislative bodies and committees. Ability to think creatively and strategically. Effective communication, interpersonal as well as research and writing skills. Ability to handle multiple competing demands. Skills and Abilities: Ability to maintain a professional, mature demeanor and be proficient at working with diverse personalities across all levels of the organization. Proficient in MS Office Suite or equivalent word processing program. Must have valid Texas Drivers' License and proof of insurance, and a safe driving record if driving for THA related business.
