Assistant Dean of Advising & Career Services Colorado Mountain College Central Services Glenwood Springs Under the direction of Assistant Vice President for Student Services and Dean of Students, the Assistant Dean of Advising and Career Services provides institutional leadership and direction for the collaborative development, delivery, and assessment of academic advising and career services baseline and best practice standards. This position also leads the collaborative development and implementation of the advising strategies from the CMC Compass initiative, the Colleges student onboarding project. Advising strategies are focused on improving relationship building with applicants, onboarding of new students, and guiding students in selecting desired degree and career pathways. This position is responsible for the development and implementation of training programs designed to strengthen and fortify academic advising, guided pathways and career services for all CMC students. Examples may include a masters degree from an accredited institution in student development, higher education, counseling, and five years of experience with student success initiatives, academic advising, career service or related field; or a bachelors degree and seven years of related experience; or equivalent education and experience that will provide the necessary knowledge, skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position. Higher education experience preferred. Special Skills or abilities related to position: knowledge of current principles, practices, and trends in higher education student affairs programming, state and federal laws, regulations and codes governing same. Ability to facilitate cooperation through discussion and consensus-building, analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, effectively lead a large team of professionals, knowledge and experience in student adjudication, experience with residential campus facilities, problem solve and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
