DESCRIPTION OF WORK: The Women's pathology division at Magee Womens Hospital is the department's centerpiece women care facility where all breast, gynecologic, placental/perinatal specimens and gynecologic cytology is received and processed for diagnostic purposes. Responsibilities will include sign out of perinatal and placental pathology specimens, fetal autopsies, teaching and training residents, medical students, and fellows. The division faculty interpret and report more than 25,000 women's surgical pathology specimens, of which ~6500 are perinatal/placental pathology specimens. Division's clinical research focuses on immunohistochemistry, gynecologic cytology, image analysis, and molecular approaches to gynecologic and breast malignancies, and perinatal pathology. Opportunities to support basic research at Magee-Womens Research Institute through the development of peer-reviewed funded research programs and collaborative opportunities with faculty engaged in molecular biology, genomics, proteomics, etc. Teaching opportunities available with medical students in the School of Medicine, pathology fellows, and residents.
